Book Talk: Solving Social Dilemmas

May 2, 2023 β€’ 10am-12pm

Tuesday, May 2, 10 a.m. | Zoom

Roger D. Congleton, West Virginia University

Roger Congleton, BB&T chair of economics at West Virginia University, will discuss his new book: Solving Social Dilemmas. This book provides a compelling account of the role of ethical dispositions in the development of prosperous commercial societies. Congleton uses game theory to show how social dilemmas tend to impede social, economic, and political development. Additionally, the book provides a short intellectual history of how ideas about commerce changed during the nineteenth century.
