This program explores how civic institutions—universities, cities, nonprofits, and public agencies—can cultivate leadership for pluralistic societies. It bridges research on public administration, leadership studies, and democratic theory to reimagine governance as a participatory, decentralized, and value-driven practice.
Our work emphasizes “civic leadership” not as hierarchy but as stewardship: the ability to convene, mediate, and co-create solutions across difference. By combining research and practice, the program aims to equip a new generation of leaders with the intellectual humility and institutional knowledge necessary to sustain freedom in complex, diverse democracies.
