Lethal Autonomy: The Future of Warfare Whether We Like It or Not

Frank Kendall will examine how artificial intelligence and autonomous weapon systems are transforming warfare across every military domain, including land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace. Drawing on recent developments and decades of experience in defense policy, he will discuss how lethal autonomy is reshaping military strategy, force design, and the future of national defense.

Kendall is an engineer, lawyer, and former U.S. Secretary of the Air Force (2021–2025). A graduate of West Point and retired U.S. Army Reserve lieutenant colonel, he previously served as Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics from 2011 to 2017 and has held numerous senior leadership roles in the Department of Defense.
