Dr. Wendy Chen is an Associate Professor of public administration in the Department of Political Science at Texas Tech University. Her research interests lie in public and nonprofit management and leadership, technology and government innovation, public policy, regional economic development, and social entrepreneurship.
Dr. Chen is a well-published researcher and an award-winning scholar. She is an author of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Public Sector (Oxford University Press, 2025). She was recently honored with the prestigious Chester A. Newland award from Public Administration Review and is also the 2024 recipient of the Excellence in Science and Technology Research Award from American Society of Public Administration. Her research has been featured by prominent media outlets such as NPR (National Public Radio) and other top public-facing publications.
