Pluralism and the Constitution: Living Together Across Deep Difference

The Center for Governance and Markets (CGM) invites the Pitt community to an Agora Forum marking the formal launch of Pluralism360, a flagship civil discourse and civic leadership program of the University of Pittsburgh.

Americans hold deeply different worldviews and visions of the good life, yet we share one constitutional framework. How does that framework allow us to govern together despite our disagreements? How do we accommodate competing values while protecting individual rights? And is the Constitution living up to its promise of pluralism?

A reception will follow the discussion.

Moderator: Judge Thomas Hardiman, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit

Panelists:

  • Ilia Murtazashvili, School of Public and International Affairs
  • Lisa Nelson, School of Public and International Affairs
